Relays:

Freestyle Relay:

Four swimmers on each team, each to swim one-fourth of the prescribed distance using any desired stroke(s). Freestyle finish rules apply.

 6 & under and 8 & under will swim a relay of 100 Yards or 25 Yards for each swimmer.  2 of the 4 swimmers will be at the starting blocks and the other 2 will be at the opposite end of the pool.

 10 & under and up will swim a relay of 200 Yards or 50 Yards for each swimmer. All 4 of these swimmers are at the starting blocks.

Medley Relay:

Four swimmers on each team, each to swim one-fourth of the prescribed distance in the following order:

Backstroke – Breaststroke – Butterfly - Freestyle

Distances to swim by age group:

6 & under and 8 & under will swim a relay of 100 Yards or 25 Yards for each swimmer. 2 of the 4 swimmers will be at the starting blocks and the other 2 will be at the opposite end of the pool. Backstroke is at the blocks with Butterfly. Breaststroke and Freestyle are at the opposite end.

10 & under and up will swim a relay of 200 Yards or 50 Yards for each swimmer. All 4 of these swimmers are at the starting blocks.

Rules pertaining to each stroke used shall govern where applicable. At the end of each leg, the finish rule for each stroke applies in each case.

Rules Pertaining to Relay Races:

No swimmer shall swim more than one leg in any relay event.

When automatic relay take-off judging is used, each swimmer must touch the touchplate or pad in his/her lane at the end of the course to have finished his/her leg of the race.

In relay races a swimmer other that the first swimmer shall no start until his/her teammate has concluded his/her leg.

Any relay team member and his/her relay team shall be disqualified from a race if a team member other that the swimmer designated to swim that leg shall jump into or enter the pool in the area where the race is being conducted before all swimmers of all teams have finished the race.

Each relay team member shall leave the water immediately upon finishing his/her leg, except the last member.

In relay races the team of a swimmer whose feet have lost touch with the starting platform (ground or gutter) before his/her preceding teammate touches the wall shall be disqualified.
